POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Participation/Activity Specialist is responsible for establishing and coordinating creative and meaningful community engagement opportunities, internal small and large group activities, and special projects/events for program participants. Responsibilities include but are not limited to staff and volunteer mentoring, acting as liaison with community businesses and groups, oversight of activity room event schedules and calendars, program participant interest assessments, community participation site assignments, and supervision of program participant activities as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate degree or 60 credits in relevant field with extensive experience (4 years minimum) working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. Bachelor's degree in relevant field a plus.
2. Strong organizational skills and computer proficiency.
3. Ability to work independently.
4. Valid PA driver's license.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Effective interpersonal skills.
7. Demonstrated passion for enriching the lives of people with disabilities.
8. Confidence in making meaningful community connections.
9. Strong leadership skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assess needs and interests of program participants to develop relevant and engaging activities.
2. Plan and implement diverse activity programs that appeal to various age groups and skill levels.
3. Coordinate special events, entertainment, outings, celebrations, and unique projects.
4. Maintain regular communication with supervisor, staff, volunteers, program participants, and families about activities, program participant satisfaction, and any changes.
5. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and staff involved in the activity program.
6. Evaluate effectiveness of activities and satisfaction of program participants with activities and modify as appropriate for improvement.
7. Manage activity program budget for supplies, equipment, event costs, and activity fees.
8. Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines during activities.
9. Support staff in motivating and inspiring program participants to engage in activities that enhance their physical, educational, emotional, and social wellbeing.
10. Provide oversight of CPS game room including but not limited to scheduling, VR System security, equipment condition, supply replenishment, and room usage check list.
11. Attend training as required.
12. Regular attendance at work.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Community Participation/Activity Specialist position. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of the position.
• Safety precautions are observed in order to reduce incidents of risk factors for a typical work environment that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Example: avoiding trips and falls, providing back care measures, and observing fire prevention measures.
• May need to sit or stand.
• May be required to walk on a level surface, an uneven surface, and/or to climb stairs periodically throughout the day.
• May be required to reach above the shoulder, below the waist, lift materials to waist height or above throughout the day. Proper lifting techniques are required.
• The Community Participation/Activity Specialist may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Finger dexterity is required.
• Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision and depth perception.
